Welcome to Online Grace Jubilee Centre (onlineGJC)

Hey GJC,

This is a newly created online blogging service specially designed for members of Grace Jublilee Centre.

The purpose of this service is to encourage people to discuss and share stuffs like your personal walk with Jesus, testimonies, etc.

Since most of us are extremely occupied with activities leaving very little time for Jesus, I thought it would be an excellent initiative to create an online blog service especially most of us are using the computer literally more than 5 hours a day.

I would like to encourage all of you to post your views on anythings concerning Christianity or current or past activities held at GJC for a start.

Hope to hear from you soon!

think this is a great idea to share our views VS world views which are more often than not drastically different from ours. thanks lawrence for coming up with it.

Thank you BZ!

Allow me start the ball rolling....

I was pondering the other day....

Life as a Christian is tough but definitely rewarding. Do you agree?

For me, I struggle with many big decisions daily! Basically, I am stressed up. Seemingly, whatever I do I am not happy whether to take up a job that earns me thousand of dollars per week or to choose having quality time for church and family. It isn't easy.

I picked up a book by John Piper the other day. The name of the book is called "don't waste your life". The book was given to me by a very good brother whom I know during my studies at the UNSW, Australia.

Inside it says if you are a Christian, you are not your own. Christ has brought us at the price of his own death. You now belong doubly to God: He made you, and He brought you. That means your life is not your own. It is God's. Therefore the bible says, "Glorify God in your body." God made you for this. He brought you for this. This is the meaning of your life.

If you agree with me that our lives is not our own, it make senses that our lives here on earth is for God. I realised life is short. There is so much to do but too little time to complete them. Since that is the case, why not consider spending the remaining years of my life just for God.

What do you think?

Dear Lawrence, whatever you do, rejoice and do it for the glory of God whether it be playing the role of an engineer or father or husband. May God grant you the joy in everything you do.

I havn't read any works by John Piper before but I'd heard that book. You are so blessed to received so much wisdom from it. May you find greater joy in investing more of your time, money and energy to God's kingdom. To quote from Warren Wiersbe's "On being a servant of God" pg 98, "God doesn't usually tear down one good thing to build up another good thing." May you and wife build a good home, a good church to raise children to be credit for the Lord. God be with you.

Currently, I'm recording my spiritual journey from sec 3 when I first attended gjc to the present. I have named my work " spiritual anatomy". I do encourage you, brothers and sisters, commit time to do the same. You will see how God has led you and what you are called to do. For eg, A brother once shared that being in pri sch band has helped him to serve as a drummer in church.

In the process of writing, I realized that God has been very gracious and generous to show me, teach me, rebuke me and guide me through these years. He was always there. There were the going to the "extremes" as well as through the painful refiner's fire when God molded my character not forgetting the luscious temptations to resist. For the past two years and now, God has been continuously molding my character, I believe for future use. Take care, bye. Love, David.

Hey David,

Long time no see. How are you brother? Thanks for the encouragement!!

I thank God for what He did in your life. It's such a great blessing.

David, I'm running young adult group next year and I need people to make the group happen if you understand what I meant.

If you are interested, pray about it and reply me.

Call me anytime at 96438384 ... we'll catch up a bit more.

Lastly, let me leave you with another challenging question..

Do you ever felt that you have been USED?

Try to think in the direction whether or not your life is wasted to this point.

Take care brothers and sisters

Hi Lawrence,

I had been used by "rebels" in the kingdom of God. I was a "rebel" too. I was tempted by my own pride and spiritual immaturity. And Alas, there wasn't any trustable and close senior to guide me then. Or maybe it was my pride that I overlooked any sound spiritual advice. But God is my master discipler and he teaches me through successes as well as pain, to refine me, to enlighten me how his kingdom is actually built, not by human efforts but by prayers and the power of the word of God. To quote from Gen 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. I was misled by a "Rebel King" who was not anointed to lead but snatches the anointing like Asalom but God intended the experience for my own good. My life has never been wasted, it's just the going through of another module, not the thrill of highrise ministry but the sweet savoury barbecue at the pitbottom of the refiner's fire.
Thank you.

Dear Friends,

There will be a talk on Godliness: The Spiritual Theology of the English Puritans held at Geylang Chinese Methodist Church (main sanctuary next to Aljunied mrt) on 29-31 October from 730pm-945pm.

Is holy living still relevant today? Come and find out about Godliness through the lives and beliefs of a special group of Christians.

The talk is by Rev Dr Samuel Ling and supported by Stephen Tong Evangelistic Ministries International(STEMI).

Regards,
David

Yesterday, the sermon was on homosexuality.

Through all the scriptures that Rev Lim shared, we can be assured that the plan that God had was to create man or woman (no such thing as in between).

But why are there such things as intersexuality? According to Dr. Anne Fausto-Sterling, a recognized expert in this field of study, 1.5 to 2 percent of all births do not fall strictly within the definition of all-male or all-female, even if the child looks "normal".

This is the definition I have gotten from wikipedia...
"Intersexuality is the state of a person whose sex chromosomes, genitalia and/or secondary sex characteristics are determined to be neither exclusively male nor female. A person with intersex may have biological characteristics of both the male and female sexes."

And I have also heard of cases whereby babies are born with two sex organs (mixed set of genitals). Reconstruction has to performed on the infant either to add or remove body parts, leaving him/her with one gender. But when he/she grows up, confusion may occurred, resulting in the possibility of homosexuality?

Although this cases may not be true, since we don't see them happening around us. But what if they were true?

I've a friend who is a homosexual too-female partner.

I've seen them doing those unbearable actions. To me, I think its unbearable cos it's like both female and is my friend, and can't expect me to say them or what. I feel so awkward.. Is like kind of a shame to us..

But as what Rev Lim said yesterday, we christian must accept them but not to accept their behaviour.

And sometimes will see her together with a guy, then the next moment, with another girl.

That's what I know during my secondary school life.. Now, I don't know about it le. But pray that God will change her into a normal person, and with the correct partner.

Anyway, I'm surprise to see that GJC had its own blog too! =)

Signing off,
-esther- =)
